My current PC build is just over 5 years old and starting to really show its age with random stalls and having slower load time once it gets to the desktop. so I was suggestions on these 2 builds and 2 prebuilt units to try and figure out what direction to go with a new PC.

my current system
win 7 pro, 8gig g.skill ddr3, samsung 840 evo ssd 250gig
I5-4670k, gtx 770 2gb vid card, z87-g45 mobo.

what I'm looking at are
https://pcpartpicker.com/user/TriGunx83/saved/#view=Zj6V6h
with the only difference with the other build is graphics card and PSU

Or I was looking at
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883230374
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227807

Just wondering what people thing or would change. Looking to do some streaming while gaming also on this PC if that matters.

Thanks

I suspect you only have a 1080p panel based on your previous setup. You can stick with the 1070ti now and upgrade later. This way you can invest in a decent x470 board and processor:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant
CPU: AMD - Ryzen 7 2700 3.2 GHz 8-Core Processor ($259.00 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Asus - Prime X470-Pro ATX AM4 Motherboard ($160.60 @ OutletPC)
Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($129.89 @ OutletPC)
Storage: Samsung - 860 Evo 500 GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($93.00 @ Amazon)
Video Card: MSI - GeForce GTX 1070 Ti 8 GB Titanium Video Card ($424.99 @ Newegg)
Case:...
1. You don't have to spend $100 on the operating system. You can download the installation media here:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Then purchase a $5 key on eBay.
2. The stock cooler that comes with the processor is adequate for overclocking.
3. You can get a better power supply for the money to allow additional overhead for future graphics card upgrades.
4. The Focus G case will have better air flow due to the mesh design and additional fans.
5. No need to spend extra on a NVME drive. SATAIII M.2 drives cost less and the performance difference doesn't justify the additional cost.

6. You could spend a little extra and go with the 1st gen Ryzen 1700 that has 8 cores 16 threads (Instead of the 2600). If you over clock it a little, you'll get 2nd gen stock Ryzen performance. The overclock and 2/4 extra cores/threads will prove to provide better longevity in playing future triple A titles.

If I went up to the 1700/x cpu would the b450 board still be good enough for it. I’ve never messed with over clocking but think I want to give it a go. Nothing crazy.

That is an absolute no. You can't buy a $100 product for $5 and expect that it's going to work right. These keys are cheap for a reason, and they can and will be deactivated at any time. Do not buy keys from eBay.

With a 2070 GPU...

Or just run Win 10 unlicensed and deal with the watermark for awhile, till they can afford to buy a legit key. That G1 PSU isn't a very good idea though. No mail in rebates included.

I have and it’s fairly easy to get them to 4Ghz. Over that nkt so much but again the process limits them after 4.

Had 2 2400g chips on a MSI B350 tomahawk. (The first chip had some weird graphical glitches and this was when GPUs were sky high in price)
