Hi, I have a custom pc, built for me nearly 10 years ago now, which I use for graphics mainly. It's seems to be working completely fine, but the other day one of my external hard drives packed up, which made me worry about the longevity of my internal drive. How long do internal drives last?
I'm thinking of changing it to a ssd for the os and programs, and installing another one or two hdd for storage and back up, is this fairly easy to do and is there anything I need to be aware of because of its age?
Thanks in advance.
Tim

Solution
Old Internal HDD last long depending how you use it. If you used it 24/7 for 3 years 10% can fail so i would assume at 4 hours a day around 15 years depending on how clean it is and how it is used.

How long do internal drives last?
really there are no guarantees
ssd generally have short guarantees because you only get so many read writes then thats it
try keeping important files encrypted and backed up on the net I use google but there are many
