Hi, I had a Asus (H61M-CS) motherboard with Intel Pentium CPU. I just replaced it with a i7 3770 CPU
I want to reinstall windows, and when I load external DVD drive, I get the Windows logo for like 3 mins, then the circling loading icon comes up and immediately the motherboard reboots. When I tried with Ubuntu, same thing happened. Ubuntu logo comes up and exactly as the 3rd circle (out of 5) lights up, the motherboard reboots.
I'm trying to understand why this could be happening? I thinking probably CPU temperature, Power requirement and may be some BIOS setting.
I checked various website and for the configuration I have requires ~250W and I have 330W PSU. Also the I did the memory test in the Ubuntu screen and the CPU was running at ~68C. So I'm sure that is not a problem either. Am I right in assuming these 2?
Only other thing is BIOS setting. Is there anything else I should be looking at? If nothing else, then I would have to conclude that the CPU is bad. Is that even a possibility that CPU has gone bad?
