Hello All,
i have a 32gb sandisk sd card SDHC for my raspberry pi, i have it set to fat32 for some reason and it will not let me format it or even try to re partition it in windows partition manager. I have tried to diskPART it and even diskpart failed, yes i was running it as an administrator.i tried M3 data recovery and Testdisk also and i have had no results after reading various fourms online. i don't want to throw it away unless i absolutely have to so i have ended up here... i hope there is an answer to fix this!
Thanks in advance

Solution
Nothing wrong with it being FAT32, that's the default file system for a 32GB storage device -- so that's not the issue here, not at all.

It's simply a failed SD card (probably corrupt memory chips) and I fear you'll have no option other than to replace it.
Fat32 restricts the size.

To access it:

Open Disk Manager, remove any volume on that drive (This removes the partition). DOING THIS WILL REMOVE ANY DATA ON THE DRIVE.....be sure to back up your information first.

after this, you will see you have an unallocated area on your SD card.

Add a SIMPLE VOLUME. When it prompts you, change FAT32 to NTFS. Everything else, just make it the largest you can, unless you wish to have several partitions....then make the size according to your wish.

Yes i believe you are right. i have tried everything but Dban. I will be getting another sd card tomorrow. I will attempt to run Dban on it tonight and see what happens.
