Hello.. Im in a real panic because I was an idiot and installed the BIOS chip backwards, the computer was not turning on and was wondering what I did wrong then the chip came to my mind instantly, I touched and it was hot to the touch, pulled my hand instantly

Before installing it I thought about looking up the correct notation but then I thought (Meh, ill be fine), total freaking ignorance, i cant believe myself

What im mostly panicking about is whether or not it did damage to the motherboard as well, if not where can I buy a new chip?

If yes, Is there a chance that it damaged other components apart from the motherboard?

Need help ASAP, thank you and please do excuse my stupidity

Solution
Well, basic temperature sensors also heat up a lot when connected wrong (my fried burnt his hand on it) but they tend to work after installing back, so there should be a diode blocking reverse flow. If there's one at a so-basical device there should be one in a complicated bios chip.

Oops, I did the similar thing except I plugged it back in offset 1 row of pins towards the south bridge area (2 pins hanging over). Is this worse cause now it won't post at all and gives off a no vga beep code even though same card worked last night and is now in similar mobo Both ASUS Tylersburg , the failed 1 is X58 ROG Rampage II Gene & the 2nd for testing is i5500 Z8NA-D6 & 3rd is X58 P6X58-E WS.

To add, I was having issues w/ it already. BIOS wouln't hold memory of date/time or any CMOS setting changes. I could only boot into OS by F2 to continue. after new battery

I considered I might have put it in backwards so I took a chance flipped around and now it starts up no post or beeps but fans full speed and "yes" I noticed the eeprom got hotter than usual so I quickly cut PSU and put back.

I can get a new eeprom if anyone with experience thinks it is worth saving and didn't cause damage to mobo itself.
