want to install ubuntu 18.4 as OS currently using Windows 10 i tried
but showing

Quick research suggests a buggy firmware or trying an UEFI install on a BIOS/UEFI on legacy mode.
Since you are on the latest BIOS the second option seems more likely.
Make sure that you have the installation drive plugged in. Get to BIOS (look at your hardware manual for how to) and look for an option called Legacy Mode or CSM Support. (not applicable on all devices, but it's what it is on the computer I use.) Now switch it on Legacy Mode/On (or UEFI/Off and "System Configuration" to Other OS/Ubuntu if there is the option, just make sure it's not on Windows 10/8) , then head to "Boot Order" (or a similar section) then find your USB/DVD. You'll probably see two options(if there's one it's a legacy installation therefore you have to turn...

(your device's name)
If legacy mode is set on choose the one that's NOT UEFI
If it's off choose UEFI
