i have a 2560x1080 ultrawide monitor - an LG 29wk600. How come the resolution can be changed to 3840x2160 or 2560x1440 in display settings? does this mean that this monitor supports higher resolution than 1080p?
It just downscales. Those are also 16:9, not ultrawide res so it'll stretch. Unless you know some magic, the pixels are physical little lights so you can't just make them have babies to have more.

sounds right. so switching to 4k res to watch 4k videos wont work?
