I'm looking to upgrade my hard drive in my computer from a Sandisk Extreme Pro SSD to this Samsung 970 PRO but honestly, I have no clue what the heck M.2 is or NVMe. I just know I have an SSD already but I wanted to upgrade so my loading times in games and read/write speeds would be faster. I have this motherboard: GIGABYTE AORUS GA-Z270X-Gaming K7 (rev. 1.0) LGA 1151 Intel Z270 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Motherboards - Intel https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128964

I don't see NVMe anywhere on the specs for that motherboard and I need to find out if this is compatible. Here is what I'm looking at: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-PRO-Internal-MZ-V7P1T0BW/dp/B07BYHGNB5?ref_=w_bl_hsx_s_pc_web_2530342011

I see there are many variants of the 970 Pro and I want the fastest one possible. If my motherboard can't handle whichever is the latest and greatest I can upgrade my CPU and motherboard if needed. I have a i7 7700K currently and I was considering going with an i9 9900k sometime in the future. Sorry, I know I'm new to the world of hard drive variants.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
