Ryzen 5 1500x wont start everytime (Motherboard shows CPU error light)

Hi,



Motherboard: MSI B350 gaming Pro-VDH

Processor: AMD RYZEN 5 1500x



The motherboard's bios are updated. and i tested it with another CPU, it works fine.



when i press the power button, My moherboard shows CPU error light, i have to manually switch off the system and try many times to make it work. Sometimes it works after two or three attempts. but most of the time i had to gave up trying, because it keep showing CPU error. When it starts, sometimes it hangs (motherboard show CPU error light) within half hour. or sometime it works fine for whole day until i shut it down myself.



i built this system, more than a year ago. i had the same problem in the first two weeks or so. but after that it worked fine until a week ago, it start showing CPU error light and won't start or hangs after sometime.



As per operating system, if i use Windows 10, it hangs with different errors and restart. but error i get mostly is, "CPU thread stuck in Device Driver". and i think, i have tried every solution posted on internet. but wasn't able to troubleshoot it. thats why i use windows 7. and it works fine.





Any help on the matter would be much appreciated.

First thing I would try is one of the easiest things to try. Go into bios and take pictures of every custom setting you have made, this will be important for later. Then power down, switch off the PSU power switch, unplug all wires, take off your side cover and remove your CMOS battery. I like to leave the battery out for about 5 min and with the battery out also hold down the power button to fully discharge the capacitors in the PSU. After 5 min reinstall the battery hook everything back up and allow it to boot fully into windows. After that go ahead and restart the machine this time entering bios. Do not choose a saved bios profile, but instead utilizing the pics you took enter all the custom changes you may have made manually...

If you run at stock make sure to at least set your RAM to the correct speed and timings (usually easier to just set for D.O.C.P. and let it set it automatically).

I've run into roughly similar issues on several builds after doing a bios update where the computer acted "wonky" and this procedure is the only one that I have found to be 100% successful. This procedure is best used when the system acts strangely after a bios update, but may help in other instances as well.
