Today I replaced my two EVGA GTX 670 2GB cards in SLI for a single Asus Strix GTX 970 4GB OC and my previous two cars were cooled by EK-FC670 blocks, while EK does still make GTX 970 blocks, I want to see if I can re-use my GTX 670 blocks since I don't have the money to throw 100 euroes on a new block and used one also go around for 60-70 euroes, the issue I'm having is that on EK website, the compatibility list for EK-FC670 does not work so I cannot check, I'm sure if it was up, it wouden't be consatly updated unless it was still manufactured. While the EK-FC970 GTX - Acetal+Nickel compatibility list is up and looks basically the same as EK-FC670 and it does have four GTX 670's on the list which are EVGA blower style ones (screenshot) which are excatly the same as mine, both 2GB and 4GB ones.
Since the EK-FC970 supports the GTX 670's that I had, wouden't it be the same for GTX 970? I do remember when I was putting on the blocks, it did have the extra boulges to cool 4GB cards. I wouden't have an issue taking my GTX 970 apart and trying to mount the GTX 670 block on it but the previous owner told me he bought the card brand new a year ago and still hasen't activated the warranty which is what I did, I did activate the warranty and it was approved so I have 3 years of warranty and the warranty seal has not been broken yet so I don't want to lose it, warranty is always nice to have but if the GTX 670 block would work on the GTX 970, I don't have second thoughs about loosing the warranty for it.
