Can a wrong memory version number cause fault booting?

Hello! I have a question regarding compatible memory for my Gigabyte Z370 HD3P mobo.

I recently bought Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 ver5.32 but I just noticed on Gigabyte's own memory support list (https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z370-HD3P-rev-10#support-manual) that it specifically state the mobo supports the Corsair modules that are ver 5.30. Does this difference in version number mean this memory won't function on my Z370 HD3P?

Right now, when I power on my computer, the DRAM LED light in the bottom right corner is constantly red. After like 10 seconds, the CPU LED light flashes briefly and the computer powers off. This PC is new build.

Do you experts know if this difference in the memory version could be the root to my headache? Otherwise, do you have any ideas what could cause this error?

Thanks so much in advance!

Theoretically any ram will drop in your board so long as it's DDR4 spec'd. The QVL for memory ensures that the ram was tested in teh lab before the board was launched to the masses. You happen to have a revision of the ram after they'd tested it.

You should first look at which BIOS version you're on. Then see if you have any BIOS updates pending. I'd ask you to manually update the BIOS(if there are any pending) as opposed to using a third party app.

Thanks for your fast reply, Lutfij!!!

However, this is the first time the PC is booting up so I've actually never managed to get into the BIOS as the PC shuts down after 10-15 seconds each time I power it on. I've also tried almost all possible combinations of ram configurations. I'm really confused on what I should do as I can't get into the BIOS.

Thanks again for helping me sort this out!

You should try with single module and check boot up. So it eliminate the possibility of faulty MB or specific memory module.

When using 2 memory modules install it in 1 bank left 2nd bank and install remaining module in 3rd bank. You should have system boot with new memories.

Pateltr, appreciate your input! I've tried almost all ram configurations, including the one you're mentioning, and it still won't boot up. It's just stuck in a boot loop... After a few seconds into the boot, the VGA LED light now stays on. Does this make a difference maybe? :)

So I believe I've figured it out... On Gigabyte's website, it says my mobo Z370 HD3P supports Intel's 9th generation. But on my mobo's case, it says it supports 8th generation. I then searched the web and found out that Gigabyte made support for 9th generation through an BIOS update. But then that means I would have to update my BIOS in order to use my i7-9700K processor. How damn stupid is that, writing on their website it is supported by the motherboard but it is shipped without support? Now I can't upgrade my BIOS because I can't boot my computer. Haha, ridiculous!

I guess there's isn't any other solutions to this?
