Should i upgrade my current rig from a i5 4590 to a ryzen 7 2700x? Is it worth it or should I wait?

Should I upgrade my current rig, I want to start doing some live-streaming (while gaming) and some editing on sony vegas.

My current rig is a i5 4590 with 8gb ram
Im having a hard time running more cpu intensive tasks and I dont know if it will struggle with editing and streaming.

I would want to upgrade to a ryzen 7 2700x with 16gb ram.

That'll be a excellent upgrade, the additional cores/threads will help out massively over your current 4 cores. Are you upgrading now or can you wait? The reason I asks is CES is in a few days and AMD is going to be talking about the 3rd Gen Ryzen and release dates so you may want to wait for that before considering the 2700X as the Ryzen 5 3600 (8C/16T at $180) or Ryzen 7 3700 (12C/24T at $299) look promising. These are rumors but it's worth it to wait.

That is a solid upgrade path for streaming...I have helped lots of folks on 4C and 4/8T CPUs upgrade to 6/8C systems for game streaming. As for waiting...Zen 2 won't be till summer if I had to guess (late spring). That's only a call you can make.

Performance jump for Zen 2 is rumored to be sizable as is core count increases but rumors are to be taken with grains of salt generally speaking. I am waiting myself but I have an i7 3930K with 2 more cores and 8 more threads then yourself though on an older gen CPU.
