I have a set of Marshall speakers and while most of my googling has turned up "no, but it wastes electricity" occasionally one or two people I have seen will cast doubt on this.

Like, look at this.

In any case I know that when my speakers have been on for a while they get perceptibly warm.

Is this an issue or can I leave them on overnight on occasion? (If I forget, etc)

I think there is a lot of BS in this statement.
"Heat is the enemy of all electronics. Heat destroys, heat kills. The longer your components are hot or warm, the shorter their lives will be."

As long as the the temperature of the material the components are made from remains in spec, which they should in a good design, you are fine.

Hmm I was unaware of that. But I guess that shouldn't be the case when we talk about laptops which are always on and off though.
