Intel i5 8400 or AMD Ryzen 2600 for 1440p

Hi all.
I live in Hong Kong and am relatively new to the world of PC building and I'm going to be building my first rig soon. I have gathered a list of parts from Newegg Hong Kong of what I consider a good combination:

AMD Ryzen 2600
MSI RTX 2070 Armour
16GB (8x2) DDR4 of G.Skill Aegis RAM (3000Mhz)
MSI X470 Gaming Pro
Corsair CX750M
Plexator M9PE 256GB Nvme M.2
2TB Seagate HDD
CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO

Now to my question:

I will be playing games at 1440p at more than 60 fps on high to ultra settings. Would adding an aftermarket CPU cooler and overclocking the Ryzen 2600 give more performance (more fps) than the i5 8400 or is the i5 still better for gaming at 1440p.

As the i5 8400 is US$30 more expensive (on Newegg HK), for US$50 more, I can get CM Hyper 212 EVO and X470 Motherboard with Ryzen 2600.

And my second question:
Does an X470 board overclock better than a B450 board? B450 board (Gigabyte Aorus Pro WiFi) is 25 USD cheaper + I won't have to buy a WiFi card.

Here are the total costs for Intel and AMD Builds (AMD build includes CM Hyper 212 EVO)
Intel: US$1140 (H370 Motherboard)
AMD: US$1190 (X470 Motherboard)

Please respond quickly as I want to buy these parts this week. Are there any sellers from Hong Kong who are offering better prices on similar gear?

This information will help me greatly. Thank you.

Solution
Future proofing is stupid. Personally before dropping 2-300 on a CPU I’d wait for AMDs keynote on 7nm see if there’s a launch and performance that’s favourable to you.

(That’s happening today btw)

Hi joworld0, Thank you for the information.

So if I was to get an i7 9700k, how much more performance for games in 1440p would I get compared to an overclocked Ryzen 2600 (and keep all the other specs the same)? And also, will the CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO have enough power for a decent overclock on the i7? (I know I will need a Z390 Motherboard)

Hi Lordvile, Thanks for your helpful answer. I will be purchasing within a week, so I'll be getting second generation Ryzen. Do you recommend buying Ryzen 2700 instead of 2600, as it has 8 cores? I'm willing to pay a little bit more to future proof my build.
