Hiya, I recently did a big upgrade on my pc where i changed everything but my Hdd and psu. I have noticed that my games are running much slower then they should be (csgo is between 70 and 20 fps) I have the latest drivers and completely reinstalled windows. My gpu usage rarely exceeds 10 percent and my cpu usage doesn’t go over 50 percent. Here are my system specs.

Ryzen 1200 with standard cooler

Msi AB350 gaming motherboard

1 8gb ddr4 stick of hyperx fury ram

Corsair vs550 psu

EVGA gtx 1050 2gb

Thank you so much to anyone who can help as I am completely stumped.

Solution

Yes it definitely can. When the memory's usage becomes maxed either because of the amount not being enough or the information cannot input/output fast enough it will cause the exact issues you're seeing.

Here's someone having the same issue as you with 1 stick of memory. When he upgraded to dual channel his problems went away.

I know that the single channel isn’t helping but it couldn’t possibly effect my system so drastically could it? Also I checked my temps and voltages and they seem normal with my cpu and gpu at 29c, cpu is drawing 0.987 V and my gpu is drawing 0.813.

Looking at that temp and those voltages....they look like they are at idle...are they?
I should have been more clear.
Start HWInfo. Then run CSGO for a bit....then exit CSGO and look at the "high" temperatures and the "high" and "low" voltages....the main ones are +12, +5 and + 3.3.
Sometimes HWInfo won't give you all three...but get what you can.

I did a completely fresh installation of windows.

I also ran csgo and the temps were fine.

I may look into getting another stick of ram I did read about how slowdowns could occur due to only having a single stick of ram I didn’t realise it was that severe do you really think it will solve my issue?
