h100i v2 upgrade to h100i PRO worth the upgrade?

just as the title states, was having cooling issues with my pc, its an i7 7700k not overclocked. ended up re thermalpasting the h100i v2, and now my idle temps are 35-40C. gaming temps are 76-84C with spikes to 88C.

Is there still something wrong with my h100i v2? or are these my current temps I have to deal with?

i have a brand new h100i PRO next to me I bought until i found out about the thermalpaste, so can swap right now.

Yes that is high especially for a CPU that isn't overclocked. It's possible that particular unit is bad? I have a h100i in my backup system and an H 100 pro in my main system. The only difference I can see between the two is the pro has fans that are a little quieter but that's about it

i feel like 76-84C with peaks to 88C is still high for temps

Good luck.

The nice part about trying is if it is still under warranty, they will most likely replace it with a newer version of what you have which is the h100i pro anyway

well the hydro series coolers, which is what I have, have a 5 year warranty apparently and I bought this in Oct. 2016, so seems to be under warranty.

But a new pro for free would be cool. Then I can return this one I bought from best buy lol.

so i know I selected an answer already I just wanted to write one last thing for anyone who reads this post

I did just replace my old h100i V2 with the h100i PRO i bought and every single temp went down.

h100i v2 idle temp- 38-42C
h100i PRO idle temp- 25-29C

h100i v2 100% cpu-z load test- 80-90C
h100i PRO 100% cpu-z load test- 51-58C

the drop between the two is incredible. especially under the 100% load test. it was clear that there is indeed something wrong with my old h100i v2 and am certainly going to have it replaced.
