Okay here we go
yesterday i mounted my ekwb titan x maxwell block that is compatible with reference 980ti pcb’s
i got i installed and intergrated into my system
(6600k, 24gb ram, 960 evo ssd and a z170 sabertooth mark s)

now every time i try to do anything that puts the gpu under load
it just shuts off

pc i still on
i can push the powerbutton and it wil power down (no need to force restart)

i tried to log it with msi afterburner
and it shows that when it happens, the gpu temps drop to 0, everything håu related drops to 0

igfx works fine, and even my old gt 6700 xl works

what are possible causes to this?
gpu shuts off, screen black, but the rest works...

and no my custom loop is doing just fine
when i try the msi cpu burner it goes 45°C

i have tried mounting the stock air cooler back on, but still dosent work

Step done so far:
fresh win 10
newest drivers
remount of stock cooler
new pcie powerkabels, and another pcie out on my psu

should be said it ran fine before the cooler swap
1500mhz core... max temp 74°C

Solution
Cleaning paste off a GPU is probably the most dangerous thing you can do to a PC. More so than delidding if you have the right tools. I'm guessing you killed it
