i wanter to change the core for a long time but im scared that my files will be gone. if i change my core will my files be gone?

Solution
If you care about your files, you really should have a backup of them. Something may go wrong at any time.
Changing the CPU alone does nothing to your files, since they reside on your hard drive. You still should have a backup, just in case.

It might be a little bit more complicated than that. What OS are you running? Is it activated with a retail key, or an OEM key? Are you planning on upgrading your motherboard at the same time, or just the CPU?

1. If you change only the CPU, you're probably fine.

2. If you're going to a new motherboard as well, all bets are off.

3. You really, really, really need a full backup routine anyway.

So, what are your full system specs (incl what OS), and what CPU are you considering changing to?
