[SOLVED] Computer randomly locking up during gaming.

My computer has been locking up and i have been getting a randomly colored "screen of death" occasionally during gaming. more recently its been happening right on game launch or shortly after. i just got a SSD and just upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10 (fresh clean SSD and install) Recently I had to replace a failing power supply (before i got the SSD) and went up to a 750 watt high quality psu (up from 600). I also just a week ago installed new ram (Corsair 16 gb ddr3 1600) I started out my investigation by testing the ram with memtest86 which returned no errors. I also completely wiped and reinstalled all the drivers on my graphics card. I then tested my cpu/gpu/and psu with Furmark. None of this caused any issue and returned proper results. I then reseated the ram and the gpu and still have the issue. My temps seem ok though i haven't actively tested them during game play. I then tried putting on xmp in bios and that just caused windows to crash right on start up so i turned that back to what it was before The games that have caused the issue so far are warframe/vermintide/monster hunter. Though I never had an issue with any of them before. I am finding myself at a bit of wits end since I cant seem to determine what my actual issue is. I am about to put my old ram in and see if I continue to get the issue regardless of memtest86 findings. Any help or insight would be much appreciated.

OS: Windows 10 64 bit Home
Cpu: Intel(R) Core(TM) I5-4570 @ 3.2 ghz
Gpu: Radeon RX 470
Mobo: Asus Z87-K
Ram: Corsair CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10 Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory 1.5V
SSD: Samsung 860 EVO 1TB
HD:(storage/old hard drive) Toshiba DT01ACA050
PSU: Seasonic Focus Platinum 750PX 80 plus

Oh wow...melted? Would be interested to know if you still had problems. It's what happens when you upgrade your hardware! When I upgraded from an i3 to an i5, it really should've been smooth, but it was not. CPU took a few re-seats and a gentle rub, then the ram started screaming at me as they also got disturbed. lol.

If you still had crashes, sorry I wasn't able to help. Trouble with this place, is others are less likely to check out your issue if they can see someone has replied.

I hope you don't mind a newbie replying to you, but if I was trying to solve this problem, I would first update the MB BIOS, or reset it to default settings, I would then check my GPU V-BIOS to see if that is correct.

One thing you haven't mentioned, is if the problem occurs when using the i5 integrated graphics, rather than the RX.
Oh, and also, check all those connections are fully inserted. So easy to neglect to push a plug in properly, especially for the GPU.

I am basically computer inept myself (by this websites standard). Ive never updated my MB BIOS so i would have to investigate how. As for the problem occurring when using I5 graphics or RX i don't honestly know what you mean. Ive always just installed said game and its generally worked. I also have no idea how to check the GPU V-BIOS. Honestly anything involving bios I haven't touched before.

Did you buy the GPU from new? The V-BIOS probably won't be the issue anyway, but I would recommend resetting the motherboard BIOS to default settings. You obviously know how to get into the BIOS, so that should be straight-forward. When you are in the BIOS, look around for display settings. On my BIOS, I can change the display to use either the integrated graphics (CPU), or the card (dedicated/discrete) GPU graphics. It's a great way to know if the RX card is at fault. One way to find out, is to unplug the RX card from the board and let the i5 GPU take over. The frame rate will be bad, but if you can play again and again without errors, then you can probably look to the RX as the problem. Sorry I can't help any further. Let the experts help you now :)

Just checked my own BIOS, and under "display output", I can choose between IGFX or PCIe1, the former being Intel's own GPU, and PCIe being my R9 280x. I was hesitant about replying to you, and hope those who know far more than me chime in. The process of elimination is what will find you your answers. Good luck.

PS. Explain these "randomly colored screens of death" a bit more?

Well I was checking plugs per your recommendation and I pulled out my PCI-E plug that connects into my GPU and one of the notches seemed melted slightly. obviously that sent off alarms so ive replaced the plug and currently in a game test. (been in warframe for about 20 mins with no issue so far)

as for the screens of death basically my computer will just abruptly stop all usbs/plug ins cease function the screen will go blank (usually black but sometimes green/purple/darkblue etc) and their will be a sound stutter (tictictictictictictictictic) until i force the computer off by holding the power button.
