Hello,
I am putting together a pc for my cousin with some parts i have lying around.
I have the following parts with me,

cpu-Intel i3 540
motherboard- Asus p7h55 mlx
gpu-Zotac Gtx 650 ti boost.

I was thinking to get a xeon x3440 which is available for cheap on aliexpress
Just want to know if its worth to get it over the i3 and will this motherboard support it.

Solution
X3440 is decidedly better than I3-540, but both are quite weak compared to current cpu.

According to the asus web, the X3440 is not supported by its motherboard, but it is possible (it is not sure) that it can be used because, sometimes in this generation, the manufacturers did not include the xeon and it does include similar I7 processors.

Note that you will need DDR3 memory for your motherboard. The DDR3 memory is obsolete although it is easily found.
