Is the i5 4440 still good enough for modern gaming?

Solution
I would say not. I just upgraded from an i5-4670K as it was cause a very significant bottleneck in BF1 and BFV. I suppose it depends on the game though.... that same CPU played a lot of other "modern games" just fine.
CPU is a bit weak for modern gaming., Specially games like BF1/BF V. 8gbs of ram is a bit on the light side too. A lot of games now use upwards of 9gb system ram at 1080p.

The GPU is good for 1080p 60hz with high in game settings. In your case a Ryzen 3 is gonna perform roughly about the same as your I5 4440.
