Hi i brought a HP Pavilion Core i5 Desktop Tower PC 590-P0067A a few months back, i’m wondering if i have much leeway with this computer in terms of upgrading the gpu for better fps in games etc

What is the power supply in it? If it's the stock 180 watt one a gaming class video card will likely cause crashes.
