is a BIOS update required in order to get that CPU running? If so update it. Oh and try Loading the optimized defaults of the BIOS before updating it and tell us the results, those boards used to fail with new CPU without resetting the options to the default ones .

I ran cpu-z it says I have version FF hope this is more help also I found the bios needed for my current cpu(E5300) and it is also FC.
I also tried the optimized defaults but with no change
could the cpu be bust?

Update i tried removing the cmos battery to reset it when i booted it back up with the new cpu it got past "memory testing ok" but the next line is corrupted or fragmented looking

the bios version fc is needed for both cpus so i don't think that is the issue. I upgraded it to the latest version on gigabytes website for my mobo just to see and it still won't run. I also tried both defaults available but nothing seems to work,

my original cpu (e5300) needs bios fc as well. I upgraded it to the latest version on gigabytes website for my mobo just to see and it still won't run.

sorry realised "bios version 6.00" was for the duel bios chips on the mobo
