So i have a new pc, installed windows, but i cant change the screen resolution (it isnt highlighted) i tried installing new drivers but it gets half way then screen just goes off, and i cant get anything back on unless i reinstall windows, i check the display adapter in device manager, and says (microsoft basic display adapter) should this say my graphics card? i really am stuck.

Any help is much appreciated, i hope i explained ok, im not the best with pcs.

Thank you.

Can't see any particular compatibility issue with those specs, so that's a start. While it might be unlikely, what is your PSU?

How long is it during the driver installation process does the screen stay blank before you... turn it off? (I always find it unnerving when the screen goes blank but it's usually for a few seconds at most.)

Was it this particular version of the driver you were trying to install? Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.1.1? Sometimes it might be worth trying a slightly older driver.

What new drivers were you trying to install? And list specs of your system as it could be handy to know.

The Microsoft basic display adapter is the Windows standard display driver. Once you install the correct graphics driver it should change to the name of your graphics card. With graphics drivers the screen can go off and come back on again.
