[SOLVED] i5 8400 or i7 8700

I would like some advice, please. I am buying a new gaming computer with 16GB RAM and a GTX 1070, but I'm not sure whether I should go with the i5 8400 or whether it's worth paying extra for an i7 8700. Is the difference in performance worth it? I'm looking to play games like Far Cry 5, Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Shadow of War, most likely at 1080p or 1440p at most. Thanks!

if you can afford the i7 i would definitely get it for the extra threads / a bit extra future proofing / higher clock speed etc.

Personally would not pick an i5. It’s Ryzen or i7 for gaming.

I agree. Not a big Intel fan so personally I'd go for ryzen for the price/performance. But if you are going for Intel, i7 8700 in this case no question. You can see more games are taking advantage of multiple cores/threads. The i5 will be good for today, but in a couple of years? That is the question. I think in a couple of years the i5 may be getting outdated.
