If you got liquid in the laptop, the first thing you should do is turn it off, pull the charger cord, remove the battery, and leave the laptop open and somewhere save to dry out for a 'while'. The more liquid, the longer the time, and that can and should be days. Yes days. Turning it on, when you 'think' it is dried out because you opened it up and tried drying it up is a bad, very bad idea.

If it is just straight water, the above should fix the issue. However if it is anything else, then you will have to clean it out (sticky residue) after it is all dried up and then leave it somewhere open again to dry for days.

Should you chose to not follow that procedure and instead try starting it up and using it, then you risk frying any number of components. If that is the case, then I would take it to a tech to have them look it over, clean it out and replace any damaged parts.
