Hi, I ran into some problems, so I have that cheap PC build that was working totally fine until now, here's what happened - So I have 2 hdds the first is an old one 500gb that has a win7 installed, that does not work and also has most of its system files missing. And a 1tb one that has fully working windows 10 installed. Both the pc and the windows are not older than 6 months. I wanted to make it boot faster so... I got into the BIOS, the ONLY thing I changed was the fast boot option from "disabled" to "Ultra fast". What happened is that the mb stopped recognizing the newer 1tb hdd with the working win 10. And of course it tried to boot from the other hdd with the nonworking win7...; I go back, enter boot options and that is the moment I realise the 1tb hdd is missing. First I unplugged the 500gb one and tried to boot up the PC (I dont know why I did it honestly), so there weren't any hdds, storages in the bios menu, I had no options to choose from (for bootable devices), but I tried to start the PC in order to see what happens, because I was curious
and the PC actually started and booted up the win10, everything was fine - files, disk C and D everything was there. I doublechecked again if the problem is fixed but there was still no bootable devices according to my BIOS (lol). I unplugged the hdd and plugged it again... that fixed it. BUT now im stuck with another problem..., soo now my pc does not shut down. Windows starts shutting down, monitor goes off to sleep, but PC fans and lights never stop working until I manually stop it with holding the power button down method.
From what I saw on this forum, some people say it might be the PSU or mb battery but I dont think this is the case since it happened right after this BIOS setting change. So I actually put it back to "disabled" - still the same; I reset all of the BIOS options back to default - still same problem. I really need help. My thanks in advance!

Solution
So this is strange.
1 reset bios
2 unplug the drive with win 7
Try booting
3 If you get in windows go to power plan.
On what ever it is set for balanced, power saving or high performance check the settings for the display or monitor see if it is to turn off at a specific time of inactivity.
4 Check device manager for any problems with hardware.
Thats where i would start first.

Then maybe a win reset keeping you files. If you have certain files that you need back them up on a flash drive or external drive.
As far as programs a reset will remove them and place a folder on your desktop of what was removed
Some with links to that program for redownload.

Thank you for the swift reply. I did what you've said, everything is fine with the power plan settings, its on balanced, nothing is changed; I reset the settings back to default just in case and still nothing new; Pc doesn't have any specific settings changed; The display is set to go to sleep after 1 hour of being inactive, and pc is set to 3 hours after being inactive, the settings are and have always been as the default. I checked every single thing on device manager for a hardware change and everything seems fine too.
I didn't quite get what you meant to say. (Im talking about the win reset thing thats keeping my files and the thing with the the reset removing programs and placing folders on my desktop, sorry.). Could you explain what exactly does that mean.
(I cannot be sure, but something tells me that the problem maybe doesn't come from the windows, It feels like the windows actually shuts down, its just that the pc fans wont stop, like the motherboard isn't, maybe functioning as it should; I have no idea, honestly)

This will explain more, but do it as a last resort knowing it still may not cure the problem.

It is really strange how just the switch to ultra fast boot would make it seem as you have full time power to your fans and lights.
Have you tried any system / registry cleaners such as ccleaner
https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner
I use the free version.
Try that see what happens but by all means don't plug in that win 7 drive.

Hi. Took me some time to reply since I was on a holiday, turns out the hdd was faulty (Not the old one with win7 but the newer one with win10) in a really weird way. Yet the question of how it was totally fine and healthy until right after that BIOS setting for fast boot took part and how it made the hdd fail will remain a mistery to me, I made many attempts to install new windowses on it, mostly failed but when I finally succeeded it didnt last for long... until it started getting drive errors, BSOD and other problems. I tried to use the drive on other computers but they couldn't even recognize it, However my own PC did recognize it but I couldn't do anything with it - if i were to try to open it or enter its contents it would just bugg and nothing would have happen, just trying to load it for infinite amount of time (and my PC is pretty decent). The Guys that I bought it from where kind enough to replace it with a brand new one that works fine for now. Sorry for the troubles and my slow replies and thank you once again for the support!
