wish to upgrade motherboard for my processor Intel® Pentium® D CPU 2 80 Ghz.
Someone pls guide me the best and compatible motherboard for the same.

Reason for upgrade : Error Message : "No bootable device insert boot disk and press any key"

Try changing the boot order to "cd>hardrive" or "dvd>ide0) etc. You can enter the bios using the recommended f key at the post screen, or press "del". Check for a loose cable going to the drive or the motherboard, as well as the power supply lead to the drive. I would also disable "spread spectrum" if that is an option. If you are trying to install a new hardrive, use the hardrive manufacturer's software to prep it first. I use maxblast 5 for maxtor or seagate drives, but other manufacturer's have similar software. The software will detect a new drive when windows won't, and the cd acts as a boot device. You can also clone your old drive. It's free in retail boxed hardrives, or you can download it free and burn a copy.

am unable to understand which software will detect the Hard Disk which Windows Won't, can you give me a link to download this Software. My processor details is already been mentioned above. Thanks in advance brother

After reading your post again, I would first try switching cables and ide ports on your motherboard, including the power supply lead to the hardrive. It's unlikely the hardrive completely failed. If it did, it would probably freeze up while trying to post.

You might not need a new motherboard. It sounds like either

a) something's wrong with your hard drive, or
b) something is wrong with the BIOS.

Cheapest and easiest thing I would recommend trying first is to replace the CMOS battery on the motherboard. If it went dead -- which is a definite possibility on a machine as old as most Pentium D's -- then the BIOS will basically be wiped clean when you power the machine off. That can cause your motherboard to "forget" devices like video cards and hard drives. It's also possible that the BIOS can become corrupted from a dead battery, which will do the same kind of things.

Anyway, start with that. A dead giveaway that this is the problem would be that the system clock resets itself to 1/1/2007 or something to that effect. Although it is probably a good idea ot replace the battery in a system that old regardless.

Sorry brother, i will explain in details this time
i have checked my hardwares with another machine:
*** My SMPS is working fine
*** All the power and Data Cables connected to motherboard are brand new and working
*** My Hard Disk read easily in other machine
*** My CMO'S Battery has no problem (I have tried both the Old and New CMO Battery)

........... The only problem is My motherboard cannot read my Hard Disk and won't boot.

if there is Solution to this without replacing a new motherboard i would be very grateful.

Have you tried your hard drive on the other IDE controller? The first IDE controller on your motherboard could be out, but the other one might still be fine.

It could still be your hard drive. Just because another computer can read it doesn't mean there hasn't been some sort of corruption, which is why the computer doesn't think it can boot from it.

Hi, bet this problem is solved by now if not or for future benifit, I bought 3 Dell Dimension 8400 Desktop pc's from the factory between December 2004 and Jan 2005 they were delivered, thats when the fun started I got the same error over the next year on my 3 pc, Dell replaced 4 SATA HDD over the next year I've replaced all 3 agian after warrenty expired So Dell did have a HD problem also had to replace DVD-rom DVD-writer, CD-writer
2 bad mobos also had 4 defective RAM receptacles on the 3 pc MOBO's. In my opinion I'll never buy another dam Dell My money comes to hard to give away to corporate ripoffs.
