Are these LG BD-drives re-brands?

I found the following Blu-Ray burners at two different retail stores for the same price:
LG BH12LS35 - Retail box with Cyberlink software
LG WH12LS38 - OEM, SATA cable and driver disk only

I've read the spec sheets and I only saw three differences in the BH12LS35: Cyberlink software; Window 7 was listed in the OS section; printed date of November 2010 vs September 2011 on the WH12LS38. The LG Solutions website also listed a BH12LS38, but I did not find those at either location.

Going into the following machine:
AMD Phenom II X4 965BE
Asus M4A89GTD Pro/USB3
HIS HD5770 IceQ 1GB
Windows 7 Pro 64-bit

Any thoughts, experiences with these drives, and input are welcome.

I'm mad at myself because I just bought the OEM drive (on sale for $80, no rebate). I had to go somewhere else for an extra long, UV reactive SATA cable and stumbled on the retail box for the same price. They did not have the newer version in a retail box so I could not compare prices.

The computer I am placing the new drive into already version 8 of the software, but I need it on a different build. I think this retail box comes with verion 9. I have also heard Media Player Classic will play blu-ray, but have been unable to confirm.

If I do not find reviews with major problems/issues regarding the BH12LS35 and it is still on sale for the same price by the end of the day, I will return the OEM version and get the retail box. Cannot find the software disk from my Plextor drive :fou: . On another note, I did not find the LG BH12LS35 or LG BH12LS38 on Newegg; only the WH10LS30.

So far it is working great. On the plus side, the drivers disk that came with the OEM actually had the software that comes with the retail version 😀 . Now I just need to find my version 8 software for the older drive (installed on a different machine).
