a friend of mine is looking to purchase a laptop for her work that runs a networked program called Dentrix that requires a graphics card of at least a Ge force 6800 GS or a Ati Radeon 9550. I am wondering if she needs to be looking at a laptop with a dedicated video card or if she would be able to use the Intel® HD Graphics 3000 on board the current mobile sandy bridge cpu lineup( Intel Core i5-2430M for example ). Thank you for any advice! will be greatly appreciated!

But it's weird that it says or 9550 which is quite a bit less than the hd 3000. Googling dentrix gets that dental software, is this right? It says those are the gpus they've used (6800 gs, 9200 and 9550). The igpu should be fine if they ran on a 9550 or 9200. http://www.dentrix.com/products/dentrix/documentation/dtx_system_reqs.pdf I know the hd 3000 can handle 3d modeling fine in max and maya so this shouldn't be too much different.
