Hi

I've always been a fan of ATI graphics, I want to know if the new gtx400 take advantage over the hd5000 series or not.

And it's true the rumors about the gtx 480 was a mistake from nVidia, and olny the 470 worthwhile?

Because I was trying to get a gtx480, but it seems the 5870 x2 that cost less its better, this is true?

Who's the winner of this four graphics cards between price and performance, overheat and power consumption?

Here comes another 4 page battle between Green and Red.

It's a never ending battle dude. Pros and cons for each. Dare I say that I would give the performance crown for single GPU to Nvidia but overall price/performance to ATI. The power consumption and heat award would definitely go to ATI as the 400 series have a voracious appetite. Personally the heat does not bother me because I have adequate cooling. The power consumption is somewhat bothersome but not enough to detour me from making a purchase.

There is enough information already posted on this forum to answer your questions 100 times over. Search and read up.

At the present situation, the radeon HD 5870 is the obvious choice.. Its performance is mostly well above the GTX 470 and on close heels to the GTX 480.. Moreover, its a grown up platform and the manufacturers have had enough time to employ their proprietary cooling setups and other features.. The GTX 4XX series are already costly and once manufacturers start employing better cooling and tweaking setups, the prices are going to rise only ( although the heat issue may get tackled to some extent ).. That, in terms of pricing, will get the 470 more closer to the 5870 and the 480 more closer to the 5970.. Thus, it doesn't seem to me that the GTX 4XX series deals are going to get any sweeter..

Among the four, i'd recommend the SAPPHIRE Vapor-X 100281VX-2SR Radeon HD 5870 1GB .. The 2GB frame buffer is an overkill right now and by the time games need such huge memory, you'll be needing a new video card.. Both models employ the same cooling though( the toxic has a little higher clock speed which gives no significant performance gain )..

"Because I was trying to get a gtx480, but it seems the 5870 x2 that cost less its better, this is true? " Half true.. a 5870 X2 is obviously better than a single GTX 480 but it costs more also..

A GTX480 will cost an HD5970, or around $50 off. That alone is going to make an obvious winner.

The GTX470 will cost the 5870, once again, obv. winner.

Grabbing a VAPOR-X version and OC'ing it will yield results equalto a GTX480 for the same power/heat.

Yep it's probably going to be the HD 5870 cause of GTX470's heat and power draining.

And don't waste money on 2GB VRAM, 1GB will do excellent on any res. You'll probably notice a 2-3 fps difference a 2560x1600, but, not worth it:)

games like crysis, cod 6, and the resolution is 1920x1280, i have a hd 4890 but i think its not enough

and I want to change to nVidia because the physix

Should've mentioned that before.. 4890 is still capable enough (and would remain so for sometime surely ).. Why don't you just hold on to it for the time being..?? Going a little low on the details is not going to change a game..

Amen to that.
