Die neuen Prozessoren werden auf den 90-nm-Cores Windsor (Dual Core), Orleans (Single Core) und Manila (spezieller Single Core für Sempron) basieren. Alle bieten die 64-Bit-Erweiterungen AMD64, das Non-Execute-Bit (NX) sowie die Stromsparfunktion "Cool & Quiet". Die Athlon 64-Prozessoren werden auch mit AMDs Version hardwareunterstützter Virtualisierung (Pacifica) ausgestattet sein.
