Memory Bandwidth Benchmark

Unsere bisherige Benchmark-Testsuite haben wir stark überarbeitet. Wir setzen jetzt verstärkt auf Benchmarks, die auf realen Anwendungsprogrammen beruhen. Selbstverständlich verwenden wir für die Messungen die neuesten Versionen dieser Programme. Zu den stress-intensiven Benchmarks zählt Steinberg Nuendo 2.0: Hierbei wird eine über 2 GB große Audio-Projektdatei mit Hilfe einer Highend-Soundkarte (Terratec Aureon 7.1 Space) mit einer Abtastrate von 96 kHz und 32 Bit berechnet. Der schnellste Prozessor - der Intel Pentium 4 - schafft dies in knapp 3 Minuten! Bei Mathematica 5.0 wird eine komplexe Formel herangezogen, die selbst für teure Taschenrechner der Oberklasse unbezwingbar wäre - der Athlon 64 FX benötigt hier 5,7 Sekunden! Bekannterweise kommen die drei professionellen Rendering-Programme 3D Studio Max 5.1 (demnächst in der Version 6 verfügbar), Cinema 4D XL 8.1 und Lightwave 7.5c (ebenfalls Version bald in der Version 8 verfügbar) zum Einsatz.
