How to connect an Wireless Xbox Gamepad to your laptop or desktop PC

Step 1: Purchase a Xbox 360 Wireless Dongle.

Step 2: Plug the Wireless dongle into a USB port on your PC.

Step 3: Download the driver from the Microsoft website.

[ ] Be sure to select the correct OS

Step 4: Connect your controller to the adapter. This is done the same way as connecting a controller to an Xbox. Hold down the button on the dongle until the light begins to flash. Then hold down the button found on the back of the controller until the lights around the 360 icon begin to cycle. [ Pic Related ]

If the controller operates as it should then there is no need to continue in the tutorial. If it does not operate correctly or it stops working then read on.

Step 5: Open up Control Panel
In the search box type "Device Manager".
Click the first result.
Look through your devices until you find one called unknown device. If there is more than one (physically) remove all unnecessary devices and restart your PC if necessary until you only see one.

Right click it and select "Update Driver Software...
Select Browse My Computer for driver Software.
Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".
Double click Xbox 360 Peripherals

Select the second one down and click next.

Select yes for the Warning Message.

Congrats, now just repeat Step 4 and you are good to go!
