Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12.0 Adds Two Spaces after I Put a Period (Full Stop)

When Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12.0 is installed on a computer, by default it is configured to transcribe the dictated contents using the normal English norms and culture. According to the norms and culture, a single space is added after terminating a sentence using a period and before starting a new sentence within the same paragraph.

In almost every case, this default configuration of Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12.0 works perfectly well, and no manual modifications are required to be made. If you are experiencing the problem as mentioned in the title of this tutorial, the possibilities are that someone has deliberately or accidentally enabled the built-in feature that Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12.0 has. When the feature is enabled, two spaces are automatically added after you dictate periods into the microphone. Many people may want to enable this feature on purpose to use a specific type of formatting while preparing the documents.

In your case, if you are using simple English, you can easily disable this feature by following the instructions given in this tutorial. Since no administrative intervention is required to disable or enable this feature, no elevated privileges are needed as well.

Here is what you need to do:

■Initialize Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12.0 program by double-clicking its icon.

■Make sure that the user profile on which you want to make the corrections is successfully loaded. If it is not, close the currently loaded profile by going to Profile > Close User
    Profile
and choosing the appropriate option as required when the program prompts to save the user profile, and then open the correct profile by going to the Profile > Manage User Profiles option.
