I Want to Start Bullet Numbers from 26 in MS Word Document

Any MS Word document uses several formatting and documentation techniques that are quite useful when beautification of the document is needed. MS Word’s toolbar has many shortcut buttons that operate with a single click, and produce predefined effects on the document.

Now these buttons have some default values, which means they have most commonly used effects. In most cases, you use them as they are provided. However the case is otherwise when you require even granular customization. In such circumstances, you edit the documents data manually to produce the required effect.

Suppose you don’t wish to start the numbers in the bullets from ‘1’. Since, you want them to continue from the number from where you previously left the counting, e.g. 8.

If you want to start the bullets from ‘26’, you will have to follow the below procedure to get it done:

■Initialize MS Word document using any account.

■Firstly, select the area or line(s) from where you wish the bullet numbering to start.

■On the HOME tab, from the Paragraph section in the ribbon, click the symbol showing numbered bullets (Numbering).

■The line(s) that you selected will get the bullets starting from ‘1’.

■Right-click the target line on which you want to define a new numbered bullet value.

■From the context menu that appears, click the Set Numbering Values option.

    ■ On the opened Set Numbering Value box, under the Set value to field, type the desired number. 26 in this demonstration.

■Hit OK and you are done.

Setting the new numbering technique can also be followed, in the same manner for setting the page numbers of an MS Word document.

Note: The task of continuing the bulleted numbering can become even easier if the numbered bullets are continued from the previously left value. For example, if the numbers are left on 25 previously, you can simply click to select the ‘Continue from previous list’ radio button to continue the numbered bullets from 26. In this case, the need of manually specifying the numbers is completely eliminated.
