From Where Can I Get Snipping Tool in Windows Server 2012? ** location needs to be added

This Tutorial addresses:
  • Windows Server
  • Operating Systems
In almost all Windows Vista and above client operating systems, the Snipping Tool is by default installed, and no manual intervention is required before the users can start using it. The case is not the same with Windows Server 2012. In this network operating system, by default the Snipping Tool is turned off, and in order to use the feature, the administrator is required to install it from the Desktop Experience subcategory of the User Interfaces and Infrastructure feature that is available under the Add Roles and Features Wizard.

Since the Snipping Tool is a feature, while enabling the tool, the administrator is not required to install any other server role.

Here is how you can get the Snipping Tool in Windows Server 2012:

  1. Log on to the Windows Server 2012 operating system with the default Administrator account.

  2. If not automatically started, initialize the Server Manager window by clicking its corresponding icon from the bottom left corner of the computer screen (in the taskbar).

  3. On the Server Manager window, from the menu bar at the top left corner, click Manage.

  4. From the displayed list, go to the Add Roles and Features option.

  5. From the Add Roles and Features Wizard box, on the Before you begin window, click Next to proceed to the next step.

  6. On the Select installation type window, make sure that the Role-based or feature-based installation radio button is selected, and click Next to continue with the selection.

  7. On the Select destination server window, ensure that the Select a server from the server pool radio button is selected.

  8. From the displayed server list, click to select the one on which you want to install the Snipping Tool feature.

  9. Click Next to proceed further.

  10. On the Select server roles window, click Next without selecting anything.

  11. On the Select features window, from the displayed list, expand the User Interfaces and
    Infrastructure
category. (It doesn’t matter if it has been already installed on the computer because some of its subcomponents still remain uninstalled.).

  12. From the expanded tree, check the Desktop Experience checkbox.

  13. On the box that pops up, click the Add Features button.

  14. Back on the previous window, click Next to proceed.

  15. On the Confirm installation selections window, check the Restart the destination server if required checkbox.

  16. On the displayed warning box, click Yes to provide your consent.

  17. Finally click Install to start the installation process, and wait till the computer restarts.

  18. After the restart, the Snipping Tool can be found in the Start screen of Windows Server 2012.
