Microsoft hosts a Cloud service by the name of SkyDrive. Storage space on the SkyDrive can be obtained by creating a new Microsoft account. As soon as a Microsoft account is created, 7 GB of space on the SkyDrive is automatically assigned to the account for free.

If you need more storage, you can upgrade by paying (how much this will cost depends on how much storage you'll need).

In order to upload files to SkyDrive in Windows 8, follow these steps:

  1. Log on to Windows 8 computer with the administrator or standard user account.
  2. Make sure that computer is connected to an active Internet connection.
  3. Click SkyDrive tile from the Start screen.
  4. On Add your Microsoft Account screen, type the Microsoft account ID and password in the available fields.
  5. Once done, click Save.
  6. On the displayed screen, click to select the appropriate container to upload its corresponding file type to the SkyDrive.
  7. On the next window, right-click on the screen.
  8. From the displayed options at the bottom of the screen, click Upload.
  9. From the opened window, click to select the file that is to be uploaded to the SkyDrive. Optionally, multiple files can also be selected by pressing and holding the CTRL key.
