  1. Log on to Windows 8 computer with the administrator account.

  2. Click Desktop tile from the Start screen to go the desktop window.

  3. Once on the desktop screen, hover mouse to the bottom right corner.

  4. From the displayed options, click Settings.

  5. From the Settings pane, click Control Panel.

  6. On Control Panel window, click Find and fix problems options under System and Security category.

  7. On Troubleshooting window, click Troubleshoot audio playback option under Hardware and Sound category from the right pane.

  8. On the opened Playing Audio the Morale of the Family box, click Next to detect the issues
    with device.



  9. Wait till the device is scanned and on the next page, click Apply this fix to fix the issues.

  10. Close Hardware and Sound window when done.

  • Note: Apply this fix option in step 9 will only be displayed, if troubleshooter detects any problem with the device, otherwise follow method 2 given below.

    1. Log on to Windows 8 computer with the administrator account.

    2. Make sure that the computer is connected to an active Internet connection.

    3. Click Desktop tile from the Start screen to go to the desktop.

    4. Once on the desktop screen, hover mouse to the bottom right corner.

    5. From the displayed options, click Settings.

    6. On the Settings pane, click Control Panel.

    7. On the opened Control Panel window, click Hardware and Sound.

    8. On Hardware and Sound window, click Device Manager under Devices and Printers category from the right pane.

    9. On Device Manager window, expand Sound, video and game controllers category.

    10. Once expanded, right-click the audio driver that is to be updated.

    11. From displayed context menu, click Update Driver Software.

    12. On the displayed box, click Search automatically for updated driver software to update driver from
      the Internet.

    13. Wait till the selected driver gets updated, and on the next page, click Close.

    14. Close Device Manager window, when done.
