Can I Import My Old Emails from Previous Versions of Outlook Using Windows 8?

When working with older versions of Microsoft Outlook such as Microsoft Outlook 2007, there might be times when users want to upgrade, or otherwise have a fresh install of the upper version of MS Office package such as Microsoft Office 2010, which also includes Microsoft Outlook 2010.

In such cases, it becomes essential for the users to import all Outlook data from the previous version of MS Office to the newer Microsoft Outlook. The main database file that Microsoft Outlook automatically generates and stores has .PST extension. Whenever Microsoft Outlook data from the older version of MS Office package is to be imported to its newer version, it is the .PST file that is important and is imported.

How to Import Old Emails from Previous Versions of Outlook in Windows 8?

In order to import old emails from previous versions of Outlook in Windows 8, step-by-step instructions given below must be followed:

    ■Log on to the computer running earlier versions of Windows from which old outlook emails are to be imported in Windows 8.

    ■From the desktop screen, navigate and locate C:\Users\<UserName>\Documents\Outlook Files folder.

    ■Once located, copy the Outlook Data File (.PST) file to a removable disk or to a shared location in the network.

    ■Log on to Windows 8 computer with the user account whose Outlook emails are to be imported.

    ■Make sure that removable disk containing Outlook Data File (.PST) is attached to the computer.

    ■From the start screen, click Microsoft Outlook tile.

    ■On the opened Microsoft Outlook window, click File menu.

    ■From the displayed options, click to select Open category from the left pane.

    ■Once selected, from the right pane, click Import.

    ■On the opened Import and Export Wizard box, make sure that Import from another program or file option is selected.

    ■Click Next to continue.

    ■On Import a File box, click to select Outlook Data File (.PST), and click Next.

    ■On Import Outlook Data File box, click Browse button.

    ■On the displayed Open Outlook Data Files box, browse for and locate the Outlook Data File
    (.PST) of old outlook version emails. (A removable disk in this demonstration)

    ■Once located, click to select the file, and click Open.

    ■Back on Import Outlook Data File box, click to select appropriate radio button under Options section.

    ■Click Next to continue.

    ■On the next page, leave everything as default, and click Finish to import the emails from previous versions of Outlook.
