First you need to get rid of all your desktop icons.

1.Create a folder with whatever name you please and cut paste all your shortcuts in there.
'My computer' and 'Recycle Bin' won't disappear just like that, so you're going to have to go into the control panel. Or to make it easier, open up start. And type in 'Show or hide common icons on the desktop' in the search bar. You wouldn't have to type in the whole lot. The results should pop up instantly.

2.Next, untick the icons you don't want to appear on your desktop. Click on 'Apply' and then 'Ok'.
You'll now only have the folder you created in which you have cut pasted the shortcuts.
Next we need to make this folder disappear.
3.Right click on that folder. Click on properties. Go to the 'Customize' tab. Under the 'Folder Icons' box, click on 'Change Icon...'. It should provide you with a list of different icons you can use. Click the icon that appears to be blank. Click on 'Ok'. Next click on 'Apply' and 'Ok'.

Your folder will be now transparent. But the text will still be there. To hide the text,
4.Click start. Type in 'Character Map' in the search box. Scroll down a bit and you'll find blank characters. Click on any one and then click 'Select' button. Then click on 'Copy'. Now you need to right click on your folder and choose rename. Then right click and select 'Paste'. It should paste in the blank character. Press Enter key.

Now your folder has disappeared. Considering where you've placed it, you can still access it via double clicking the mouse.
OPTIONAL:
If you want to, you could also keep all the taskbar icons to your centre than to your extereme left. To do that,
1. Make a new folder in 'My Documents'. Name it whatever you like. This folder is going to be empty. Now, right click on your taskbar and select 'Toolbars' and click on 'New toolbar...'. Direct it to your newly created empty folder at 'My Documents'. Click on 'Select Folder'.

2.The name of your folder should now appear on your taskbar at the extreme right. Also, you need to right click and unlock your taskbar before doing these next steps. Drag it all the way across to the left. The taksbar pinned icons should now move to the right. Drag them till they're at the centre and the empty folder still at the extreme right. Right click on your folder toolbar and untick 'Show title'. It should now disappear. Lock your taskbar again.

Your desktop should look much better now!
