Create a new user account

1. Open User Accounts by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, click User Accounts and Family Safety(or click User Accounts, if you are connected to a network domain), and then click User Accounts.

2. Click Manage another account. You may need administrator confirmation.

3. Click Create a new account.

4. Type the name you want to give the user account, click an account type, and then click Create Account.

Now copy files to new user account

You must have at least three user accounts on the computer to complete these steps, including the account you just created.

1. Log on as different user than the one you just created or the user you want to copy files from.

2. Open Documents by clicking Start, and then clicking Documents

3. Click the Tools menu at the top, and then click Folder Options. If you don't see this menu press ALT.

4. Click the View tab, click Show hidden files and folders, clear the Hide protected operating system files check box, and click OK.

5. Locate the folder for the old user, this folder will be named what your old profile was named (e.g. C:\Users\Bill)

6. Select all of the files and folders in this folder, except the following files:
Press Ctrl + A on the keyboard to select all and press and hold Ctrl and click the following files to deselect them

  • Ntuser.dat

    Ntuser.dat.log

    Ntuser.ini

7. Copy these files by pressing Ctrl + C on the keyboard or click Edit menu, and then click Copy. Again if you do not see the menu press Alt.

8. Locate the folder for the new user, this folder will be named what you named the new profile.
(e.g. C:\Users\Billie)

9. Paste the files and folders by pressing Ctrl + V on the keyboard or click the Edit Menu, and then click Paste. Again if you don not see the menu press Alt.

10. Log off, and then log on to the new user.

Problem solved mister grizzly bear.
