Disabling the lock screen in Windows 8 Pro or Enterprise Edition is comparatively simpler as you can get the job done just by opening the local group policies. On the other hand, the task becomes a bit challenging in Windows 8/Windows 8.1 Home Edition. In Windows 8/8.1 Home Edition, if you want to disable lock screen, you must get into the Windows registry and modify certain values.
Here is how you can disable lock screen in Windows 8/Windows 8.1 Home Edition:
- Log on to Windows 8/Windows 8.1 Home Edition using the account that has administrative (unrestricted) privileges on the computer.
- From the Start screen, click the Desktop tile.
- Once on the desktop window, press Windows + R keys simultaneously to initialize the Run command box.
- In the available field in the Run command box, type REGEDIT and press Enter.

- On the opened Registry Editor window, from the left pane, navigate and locate
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows
- Once there, click to select and expand the Windows container in the left pane.
- If the Personalization key already exists in the Windows container, jump directly to step 12. Also, if the NoLockScreen DWORD already exists, jump straight to step 15. If none of the condition is true, continue with the next step.
- Right-click the Windows container.
10. From the context menu that appears, go to New and click Key from the submenu that comes up.

11. Rename the newly created key as Personalization.

13. From the displayed submenu, click DWORD (32-bit) Value.

14. Name the new DWORD as NoLockScreen.
15. Double-click the new DWORD.
