- ■Logon to Windows 8/Windows 8.1 using Administrator account.
■Open File Explorer by clicking its icon in the taskbar.
■From the opened window, click View from the menu bar.
■From the available options in the View ribbon, go to the Show/hide section and check the File name extensions and Hidden Items checkboxes.
■Navigate to the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\User Account Pictures directory.
■Click to select the user-40.png image, and press the F2 key on the keyboard.
■Rename the image to user-40.gnp (or any other name of your choice). This will turn your image in an unknown format, hence removing the user account image.
■Once this is done, sign out and then sign back in to see the changes take effect.
