If you are an owner of a website or a blog, it is expected that you would definitely have your accounts on various social networking sites, not leaving LinkedIn behind as well. While using LinkedIn, as a website or blog owner, sometimes you might want to allow the visitors to share any content from your site to LinkedIn so that you can generate more traffic on your website or blog.

LinkedIn allows you to do so by adding a ‘Shared on LinkedIn’ plugin to your site or blog. When you add the plugin, and the plugin is clicked, the corresponding content from your site is automatically shared on the LinkedIn profile of the person who clicked the plugin.

In order to add the said plugin to your site, you must generate its code on LinkedIn, and the code must be embedded to your website’s code.

Here’s how you can generate the ‘Shared on LinkedIn’ plugin code using your LinkedIn profile:

  1. Open your favorite web browser.
  2. In the address bar, type the https://developer.linkedin.com/plugins/share-plugin-gen... URL and hit Enter.
  3. On the Home interface that comes up, from the left pane, under the Build a Share Button section, click to select the appropriate count mode.(E.g. Vertical, Horizontal, No Count)

  4. Optionally, in the URL to be shared field, enter the desired URL you that want to share on your website.
  5. Once this is done, click the Get Code button from the bottom to generate a unique code.

  6. After the code is generated, copy the code and embed it in your website’s code to add the ‘Shared on LinkedIn’ plugin on your website or blog.
