Share Your Location via Facebook Messenger

When you install Facebook Messenger on your Android smartphone, by default the Messenger app is configured to share your location with your friends with whom you converse. The configuration may be otherwise if you or someone else has manually disabled the location sharing in the Messenger app.

If location sharing is disabled in your instance of Facebook Messenger, whenever you converse with your friends via Messenger, your friends are not able to see your location. This might be a good security feature if you want keep your location information secret.

On the other hand, if the location sharing is disabled in your instance of Facebook Messenger, and you want to share your location with all your friends, relatives, and colleagues while conversing with them, you must manually enable the feature in the app.

In order to manually enable the location sharing feature in the Facebook Messenger app on an Android smartphone, you must follow the steps given below:

  1. Turn on your Android Smartphone.
  2. Tap the Menu icon to go to the apps list.

  3. From the displayed apps, locate and tap the Messenger app icon.

  4. On the Home page, tap the Settings icon (gear icon) from the top-right corner.

  5. Once the Settings interface opens up, check the Location checkbox to share your location via Facebook Messenger.
