Sign In to Skype on a Mac Using Your Microsoft Account

This Tutorial addresses:
  • Skype
  • Microsoft
  • Macintosh
Since Skype is available for both Windows and Mac computers, the process of signing in to Skype is almost identical in both cases.

After Microsoft bought Skype, it changed the application’s login process, and now you can sign-in to Skype either using your Skype Name (that you might have created before Microsoft acquired the application), or you can use your Microsoft account for the purpose.

Since this tutorial focuses on how you can use your Microsoft account to sign-in to Skype on a Mac computer, here is how the task can be accomplished with least overhead:

  1. Turn on and log on to your Mac PC/laptop.
  2. On the desktop, locate and double-click the Skype icon to launch the application.
  3. From the Skype interface, click the Microsoft account option.

  4. Assuming that you already have a Microsoft account, provide your Microsoft account credentials in the appropriate fields, and click the Sign in button.

  • Note: If you do not have a Microsoft account, click the Sign up now link from the bottom, on the next interface, populate the fields with the correct values, and click the Create account button from the bottom to create a new account. After the account is created, use the account credentials (username and password) while on step 4 to sign-in to Skype using your new Microsoft account on the Mac computer.
