Even though Windows 8 is a universal operating system that can be installed on all compatible hardware devices, the overall battery health depends upon the type of machine on which it is installed. For example, if a laptop has larger display screen with high resolution, the battery consumption would be high. On the other hand, if your laptop works on lower resolution, and the configuration of the computer is not too high, you can enjoy the increased battery life.

Nonetheless, for you it might be always important to regularly check the health of the battery of your laptop while using Windows 8 in order to remain updated as how much time do you have before the laptop must be plugged in for charging.

Checking the battery health in a Windows 8 laptop is a simple process.

Here is how it can be done:

  1. Power on your Windows 8 laptop.
  2. Use any account to log on to Windows 8.
  3. Depending upon the version of Windows 8 you are using, if you are displayed with the Start screen, click the Desktop tile.

  4. Once you are on the desktop screen, click the battery icon from the notification area (available at the bottom right corner of the screen).
  5. On the popup box that appears, check the current health of the battery from the information displayed at the top.

  6. Click anywhere on the screen to make the box disappear.
