While using your LinkedIn account, sometimes it is important to add a particular suffix with any additional qualifications (eg. PhD), to your profile name so that the profile visitors or your LinkedIn connections know your profession and/or your area of expertise.

At the time of this writing, LinkedIn has no field dedicated to add suffix to your profile. In order to add a suffix to your name, you can include the text in the last name field.

Assuming that you did not add a suffix to your LinkedIn profile during the creation process, here is how you can get it done even after the profile has been created::

  1. Turn on your computer system.
  2. Open your favorite web browser.
  3. Open the LinkedIn website by typing www.linkedin.com in the address bar and pressing Enter.
  4. On the Sign In window, provide your credentials in the appropriate fields, and click the Sign In button.

  5. On the Home page, click the Profile menu from the menu bar at the top.
  6. From the new page that comes up, click the Edit Profile option.

  7. Once this is done, from the top section, click Edit (pencil icon) representing your username. (E.g. Jacob Moore in this demonstration)

  8. Add the desired suffix by typing in the field representing your last name. (E.g. Ph.D in this demonstration)
  9. Click the Save button in order to apply the changes.

  • 10. Finally, click the Done Editing button to complete the process.
