Step 1: Make sure Bluetooth is turned on and discoverable. This works in slightly different ways depending on the laptop and phone you are using, but it is always easy. The Bluetooth icon usually appears on the menu bar of the desktop on your computer:

Phones are another story. Usually you will have to navigate into SETTINGS. If you are using an iPhone, go to SETTINGS > BLUETOOTH. Then simply turn it to ON.
Step 2: Pair your phone and laptop. This means you have to form a connection between them. As long as Bluetooth is on and discoverable on both devices, this will be very easy.
Step 3: Click the Bluetooth icon on your laptop and select OPEN BLUETOOTH PREFERENCES. A new window will open.

Step 4: Click PAIR next to the correct device:

Step 5: In the Bluetooth menu on your computer, select SEND FILE TO DEVICE. If you go back to Bluetooth in your phone’s settings, you will see a similar option there (depending on the type of phone you are using).

Step 6: Select the files you want to send and click SEND. It’s as easy as that. Now you have successfully sent files from your phone to your laptop, or vise versa!
